At the end of July, a giant “Coming Soon” banner hung outside Suite F of the State Street Crossing strip mall announcing new tenant Wild Bill’s Tobacco, a family-owned business that opened its first location in 1994 in the Detroit suburb of Roseville. The banner didn’t quite cover the Pokemon logos behind it in the space vacated in March by GameStop. GameStop manager Jen Foster, and three other former Saline employees, can now be found at the chain’s Ann Arbor store in Cranbrook Center on Eisenhower Pkwy.

Wild Bill’s will “probably hire about four to six employees, some part time, some full time, and we hope to complete renovations and open by late October or early November,” says chief marketing officer Justin Samona, reached by phone in early August at corporate headquarters in Troy.

“This company’s grown a lot since 1994,” Samona adds. “We have over 100 locations in Michigan and Ohio.” Once completed, the 1,400-square-foot space will have a walk-in humidor for premium cigars and sell everything one might need to roll cigarettes.
