Also, a slow-paced 8-mile prebreakfast ride to Zingerman's for coffee & conversation leaves 842 Greenhills Drive at 8 a.m., with a noon return. "Forest Discovery Hike":

Lawton Elementary School PTO. All invited to a noncompetitive run around the school grounds. Kids can run for any length they like, with ribbons for all participants. Proceeds benefit the John Crosby Memorial Fund, which supports the U-M Mott Children's Hospital and has raised $70,000 since 2002. Food available.

Ann Arbor's unofficial city historian, Wystan Stevens, has been leading his popular interpretive tour of Ann Arbor's oldest cemetery for almost 30 years. Stevens is an enchanting, wryly humorous raconteur, and he says that "the fall is the prettiest time of year for the graveyard." If you haven't been led around Forest Hill by Wystan, you don't really know Ann Arbor! Canceled in case of heavy rain.

Ann Arbor-Motown Hash House Harriers. Every Sun. & occasional Sat. The local chapter of an unorthodox running club for people who like to make a game of running. Each runner's task is to follow a trail designed to be confusing. The usual result is that the lead (i.e., fastest) runners run the longest distance, so that runners of varying abilities complete the course in nearly the same time. Each run includes at least one pit stop (with beer & pop hidden along the way) and is followed by a trip to a nearby restaurant.

"Dreaming a Place: Nightfire and PlaceMagic":
Nightfire Dance Theater. Nightfire director Irena Nagler leads a session of environmental dancing in an outdoor setting, accompanied by music and other sound, visual art, and poetry. Participants should bring anything needed for protection from sun, rain, and occasional rough terrain. If you like, you can also bring a sketchbook, pens, pencils, poetry, and shoes you can wear in water. No experience necessary.
