"Nash Bash":
Kerrytown District Association. This mini country music festival is headlined by Dana Cooper
(see review), a veteran Missouri-bred folk-rock singer-songwriter
from Nashville whose songs are known for their melodic inventiveness and
poetically evocative lyrical sophistication. Opening act is Whit Hill & the
Postcards, a former local band that recently moved to Nashville, featuring
Hill's richly imaginative country-folk originals that are often spiked with her
offbeat sense of humor. Other local musicians TBA. Also, a "trunk-a-
palooza" garage sale where folks sell everything from china to cowboy
hats out of their car trunks. BBQ, beer, wine, and other food available.

Tumbao Bravo:
Kerrytown Concert House. This local Cuban jazz quintet, led by saxophonist and flutist Paul VornHagen and percussionist Alberto Nacif, won Outstanding World Music Recording at the 2007 Detroit Music Awards. The band recently released its 3rd CD, Un Systema para Todo, a set of original compositions that a Descarga.com reviewer calls a "strong, refreshing and unpretentious Latin jazz project." Other band members include pianist Wesley Reynoso, bassist Pat Prouty, trumpeter Roberto Mojica, and Javier Barrios on timbales.

2nd Annual Benefit Concert:
Lost Voices. This folk and blues concert features world-class local harmonica wizard Madcat Ruth and Kitty Donohoe, a Michigan singer-songwriter who sings Irish American roots music. Also Josh White Jr. Known for his powerful, intense singing and his virtuosity on 6-string and 12-string guitars, White sings in a more modern style than his famous folksinger father. Other blues and folk musicians TBA. Proceeds benefit Lost Voices, a nonprofit organization that creates programs for incarcerated and at-risk youth.
