The Ark: The RFD Boys

Authentic bluegrass by these longtime local favorites who have appeared in numerous festivals and on the cover of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. Their shows blend top-notch musicianship with funny between-songs dialogue. They have several recordings, including Live and Unrehearsed, a 1994 Ark performance. $11 at the door only. [venue info]

The Blind Pig: Tobacco

Hip-hop-inflected electronic musician, the alter-ego of Tom Fec, the frontman of the Pittsburgh experimental pop band Black Moth Super Rainbow. Opening acts are Junk Culture, an R&B- oriented electronic musician from Mississippi, and Dreamend, a Chicago experimental pop singer- songwriter, the alter-ego of another Black Moth Super Rainbow member, guitarist Ryan Graveface. Crazy Wisdom Tea Room: Rock Paper Scissors

The local alt-country duo of Black Train singer-guitarist Vicki Dischler and cellist Tom Lyon performs a varied array of covers by the likes of Lucinda Williams, Son Volt, the Rolling Stones, and Robyn Hitchcock. [venue info]

Elbow Room: Macpodz

Immensely popular local jam band that plays an invigorating mix of R&B, soul, rock, and hard jazz it calls “disco bebop.” [venue info]

The Habitat Ultralounge: Bugs Beddow Band

Versatile horn-driven R&B, boogie-rock, blues, and jazz ensemble led by veteran Detroit trombonist Beddow. [venue info]

Keystone Underground Martini Bar: Poorboys Relief

Acoustic blues-rock garage rock quintet from Big Rapids. [venue info]

Live at PJ's: Drivin' Terraplanes Sideways

One-off performance by this local houserockin; blues dance band featuring members of both the Terraplanes and Drivin' Sideways. 6- 9:30 p.m. [venue info]

The Savoy: The New Green

Local pop-folk octet led by singer-songwriter Steven Clausnitzer that’s been compared to the Beatles, Wilco, and Sufjan Stevens. Opening acts are Tim Monger, an engaging pop-rock singer-songwriter-guitarist from the Great Lakes Myth Society known for his high lonesome tunes, and Singing in the Abbey, an all-female minimalist chamber pop quartet from Chicago.
