Black Holes (2:30 p.m.) is an animated audiovisual show that begins with the formation of the early universe and the birth and death of stars and concludes with a simulated flight to a supermassive black hole lurking at the center of the Milky Way. 9th Annual Elvisfest: Ypsilanti Depot Town Association. July 11 & 12. Thousands annually celebrate the memory of the Man from Memphis at this festival highlighted by a performance on Saturday night by former Legends in Concert entertainer Ryan Pelton, who plays Elvis in the film Hounddog. Also, performances by 12 professional Elvis tribute artists from around the nation, featuring Hawaiian tribute artist Leo Days, 12-year-old Chicago singer Nick Gutierrez, and Demi Downing, a 10-year-old female Elvis from Georgia. They are backed by the Change of Habit Tribute Band. Also, Beatles, Tom Jones, Roy Orbison, and Buddy Holly imitators. Display of classic cars and sale of Elvis memorabilia. Raffles, door prizes, concessions, and a beer tent. Bring folding chairs. Austin Lounge Lizards: The Ark. Country & western musical comedy by this inventive quintet that mixes classy bluegrass and swing arrangements with humor as sharp as Loudon Wainwright's or Tom Lehrer's. Its material ranges from upbeat numbers with an edge of romantic discontent to biting political and cultural satire to the painfully hilarious antidrinking song "Old Blevins" to a full-tilt bluegrass version of Pink Floyd's "Brain Damage." "Playing Around": Ann Arbor Civic Theatre. July 11, 12, 18, & 19. Civic Theatre actors perform 2 plays from the theater's annual playwriting contest. "The Little Dog Laughed": Performance Network Professional Season. Every Thursday-Sunday, June 19-July 27. Ray Schultz directs Douglas Carter Beane's Tony-nominated 2006 comedy of manners about a Hollywood agent hot on getting the film rights to a new play for her client, a sexually confused up-and-coming actor afflicted with what she calls a "slight recurring case of homosexuality." The play has won praise for the subtlety and zing of its richly comic dialogue and for what New York Times theater critic Ben Brantley calls "an expressly theatrical energy that finds the verbal music and rhythm in Hollywood-style hypocrisy."
